Hollywood, FL — GAWDA will be holding a Members’ Town Hall Meeting on Friday, June 12th at 11:00 AM Eastern.
This special Member’s meeting is being held to facilitate a discussion regarding the Annual Convention and capture your feedback in determining next steps. Currently the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Phoenix, where we are scheduled to be September 25-28, 2020, is closed and is slated to reopen operations in July. July is also the time when we would open Annual Convention registration under normal circumstances.
Your GAWDA leadership is adamant about two things: (1) maintaining the safety and well-being of our members, and (2) providing value to our members to promote the economic vitality of our industry.
We are asking each GAWDA member, please, to register at least one delegate to participate on your company’s behalf during the June 12th Town Hall Meeting.
The Town Hall will provide opportunities for virtual confidential polling as well as live open discussion. Feedback topics will include:
- Your level of trust with traveling via plane or automobile to Phoenix in late September
- Your level of confidence in attending an in-person industry gathering in late September, with safety modifications in place
- Your level of value you would receive from a virtual-only Annual Convention
- Your level of tolerance financially to registering attendees for an in-person or virtual meeting
It is possible that this decision ‘to-have-or-not-to-have’ may be made for us if large gatherings are not permitted this fall or if the hotel is not operational. We currently have a valid contract with the property, so if there is no issue of non-performance (meaning both the hotel and city are fully open), and this summer’s events across various industries and recreational attractions nationwide go smoothly, then the question is: Do we try to have an in-person element to the meeting for those who choose to attend while virtual streaming the experience for those who choose not to attend? GAWDA exists to serve our members – to promote their safe operation and the economic vitality of the gases and welding industry. We want to make this decision with you, not for you.
