SAN FRANCISCO
DID YOU KNOW THAT “65%” OF THE HOMELESS ARE CHILDREN?
Neither did we. Their Mothers keep them hidden so social workers will not take them. They are often cold and hungry. Hamilton House, our choice to be the 2007 GAWDA Gives Back recipient, can use our help. Hamilton Family Center is the largest provider of shelter and support services for homeless families in San Francisco, helping hundreds of families a year. They offer extensive programs and services including case management, counseling, educational and recreational programs for children, aftercare services, housing referral, advocacy and financial assistance.
During the GAWDA Planning Committee meeting in September, the committee met with two organizations and voted for Hamilton House. Our money will help these families secure permanent housing and achieve self-sufficiency.
Salvador Menjivar, Executive Director, is one of the most caring and hard working individuals dedicating himself to those in need. In Dec, ’06, we went to Hamilton House and toured their facilities. There are no frills but EVERYONE we met had such a positive attitude and much praise for Salvador. We hope you will open your hearts to this wonderful organization. You can get more information about the various programs offered on-line at www.hamiltonfamilycenter.org.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
